How to create path effects in Adobe Illustrator. A quick and easy tutorial on how to make your lines and strokes more fun and dynamic.
INSTRUCTIONS:
ROUGHEN
- Go to Effect > Distort and Transform > Roughen
 - Experiment with the size and detail sliders to get the effect that you want.
 
TWIST
- Go to Effect > Distort and Transform > Twist
 - Add or subtract degrees to get the effect that you want.
 
ZIG-ZAG (CORNER)
- Go to Effect > Distort and Transform > Zig-Zag
 - Make sure corner is selected and experiment with the size and ridges to get the effect you want.
 
ZIG-ZAG (SMOOTH)
- As above but make sure smooth is selected.
 
SCRIBBLE
- Go to Effect > Stylise > Scribble
 - Experiment with the sliders to get the kind of scribble effect that you want.
 
WARP (ARC)
- Go to Effect > Warp > Arc
 - Move the bend slider to get the type of arc that you want.
 
TIPS:
- Many of these effects can also be applied to shapes
 - Experimenting with stroke weight or adding a gradient could make this even more dynamic
 - You could create some simple fun patterns with these effects
