How to create a custom pattern brush in Adobe Illustrator. A quick and easy tutorial on how to create your own custom pattern brushes to jazz up your typography, motifs and shapes.
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Create your pattern and format it so that it is long and thin.
- Group your pattern.
- Select your pattern and go to Window> Brushes and click the plus button on bottom of the palette to create a new brush.
- Name your brush and click OK.
- Draw your word with the pencil or paintbrush tools or create your shape or motif.
- Select your word, motif or shape and select the new brush you have made from the Brushes palette.
TIPS:
- You may need to experiment with the size and length of your pattern so that it works for the word or motif you have created.
- Experiment with different stroke sizes.
